My Approach to Helping
I believe that most wounds occur within a relationship and that healing also occurs most effectively within a relationship. My position of "unconditional positive regard" toward clients doesn't imply that I endorse behaviors that don't work, but that people can only take the risks required to heal when they feel respected, accepted, and supported. I don't believe in blunt confrontation or cold "neutrality" as that's often what creates peoples' wounds in the first place. It is not until we are fully aware of our counter-productive defenses that we are able to choose new ones that are more constructive.

On the Fence About Going to Therapy?
I believe that committing to therapy is a fearful experience for most people and this is especially true for couples. Because of this, I strive to create a safe and non-judgemental space for my clients.
