My Approach to Helping

In my therapy practice, I work primarily with adults on a one-to-one basis. My therapy approach has grown out of everything I've learned in the 30-plus years since first getting my degree. I draw from various traditions, using whatever in my repertoire seems to click with a particular person. These include working with parts of self, including inner child parts; working with the body to access hidden information and support change; using the therapeutic relationship to help heal attachment wounds; utilizing art and journal-writing; and working with beliefs and life structures. I have a basic depth approach which looks at childhood influences and unconscious conditioning. Most importantly, I listen and pay attention, looking for the places where a person is held back.

I like clients to have as many tools as possible. My 2 books, Healing From Trauma: A Survivors Guide (2008) and upcoming Too Little Mother, Not Enough Love (2009 publication bumped) are both holistic guides that are filled with suggestions for working with these respective issues.

More Info About My Practice

In addition to clinical work, I spent 10 years teaching psychology and training counselors and bodyworkers in counseling skills.I have also logged in 20 years of deep personal work with skilled teachers and healers and authored books and articles related to spiritual development.

I know how transformative therapy can be in a life and do my best to make my work affordable. Please talk to me about my sliding scale. I am not on any insurance panels.
