My Approach to Helping
I believe that counseling is a collaborative process between client and therapist and the goal is always to enhance one's quality of life. Twenty years of clinical experience has taught me that people often know what they need to do to relieve their stress, but lack the support or resources to make it happen. Collaborative counseling allows clients to express their thoughts and feelings without fear of judgment or rejection and discover the breadth of choices they do have.

What I Love about Being a Psychotherapist

I truly believe that people deserve to live a full, happy, and balanced life. I truly believe that that is possible and available to all. I truly believe that sometimes despite our best efforts to achieve that balance, events occur that stump us. I believe people can challenge their thinking and can modify their own behaviors, but at times need an outside influence to help them through the process. Simply put, counseling works! There is no need to remain in sadness or anxiety, or face an illness or life trauma alone. I'm passionate about counseling because I have seen it work in the lives of my clients, and in others, and in my own.

On the Fence About Going to Therapy?

Ask for a consultation! A counseling consultation is a single session for a single fee. In session you have the opportunity to meet face-to-face with your therapist and learn how you feel with the therapist in the counseling environment. The consultation provides you the opporunity to express why you are seeking counseling, what solutions you have already tried, or simply acknowledge you are stumped and are looking for an objective point of view. The therapist then has the opporunity to ask appropriate questions to best assess the type of counseling needed to achieve the desired outcome or goal. A consulation is brief, low cost, and there is no obligation to continue counseling after the consulation. Stop sitting on the fence, obtain new information and find solutions that work!
