My Approach to Helping

If you have stopped to read this profile there is a part of you who is hoping I might be the one who can really get you, who might be able to deeply understand who you are, and who you hope to become. I know the courage it takes to call a new therapist whether this is for your very first time or you have had prior therapists. I also know what it is like to be a "client" both in traditional talk therapy and in the new methods of therapy that are based on recent advances in brain science.
My approach as a therapist is collaborative and firmly centered on your goals. I am inquisitive, a keen listener, and I can help you look at your current life and your past with compassion, humor, respect, and empathy. I can help you explore how old events and outmoded ideas may be contributing to your frustration in achieving your hopes and dreams. I do not possess a magic wand. But I do possess the latest training in EMDR Psychotherapy and my clients are achieving great successes! By using EMDR and other Mindfulness-based practices, I can create a trusted space where we can cultivate your strengths, and change your perspective on your past. As your understanding of your self grows, you will find a greater sense of empowerment to pursue your goals and you will develop more effective strategies in managing the inevitable losses and challenges of life. If you think I might be a good fit or you have any questions, please give me a call. It would be an honor to join you on your journey.

Specific Issue(s) I'm Skilled at Helping With

I have many years of successful experience helping adults and older adults navigate major life transitions. This has included exploring and working through issues of grief, loss, depression, anxiety, trauma, and Post Traumatic Stress.
I also have many years of experience managing crises and working closely with seniors and concerned "family" members.

My recent training in Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing Therapy is generating the most exciting results for individuals who have held inside childhood traumatic experiences. To witness growth and change, the lessening and elimination of painful symptoms, the learning of more effective ways of handling strong emotions, and the development of greater self confidence is an honor and privilege for me. Allow me to accompany you on a journey of self discovery and transformation.
