My Approach to Helping
I offer psychotherapy and spiritual counseling to individuals, couples, groups and adult family members with particular respect to transition. I also offer consulting for writing memoir and and life story. I believe that identification, acknowledgement and release of blocked energy transforms emotional experience and becomes a path to authentic personal and spiritual relationship. Therapy is essentially about moving energy. For example, coping skills may be developed in childhood to survive family of origin and cultural projection, and then as we age, pain results from using skills which no longer work and continue to mask the authentic self. Therapy may be about depathologizing, self-forgiveness and developing new coping skills while keeping parts of the original coping skill which still work. I see this as practical spirituality and may use systems, cognitive, developmental, psychodynamic, family-of-origin, ThetaHealing, Sedona Method, Laws of Attraction and/or other therapeutic elements in the process of healing. Therapy is based on individual need, and so may include exploring confilct resolution as well as development of focusing and self-esteem skills. These theories are also effective in work with couples and adult family members. More Info About My Practice
I offer psychotherapy and spiritual counseling to individuals, couples and groups regarding work, aging, health, finances, relationships and experiencing the Self. I facilitate many kinds of life transitions including such specialties as adoption reunion counseling, distance parenting with noncustodial mothers and fathers, and adult families and couples in crisis. I believe that life is change and that skills can be learned to provide peaceful passage through it's continuous, often painful or exhilarating, cycle of beginnings and endings. I have been in private practice since 1994, am a speaker and author, and facilitate the enduring Mothering Ourselves groups for adult daughters.
