My Approach to Helping
The decision to enter counseling is a courageous one. Making that initial call is the first step in one's journey for insight and self-growth. There is not one individual therapy that will treat all the disorders. Your treatment plan should be tailored to your own individual needs and a collaborative relationship with your therapist is essential to your success. Feeling comfortable, respected, and validated are ways that will facilitate and empower you to be successful. Within our office you will be treated as that individual and provided with a confidential and safe environment so you can begin that journey. I feel there are many providers that are available to treat you and the fact that you are trusting me with your emotional well-being is a privilege.

Helping the military with adjustment issues, and addressing the unique challenges of the military community is my specialty. Trained in Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral therapy working with children, adolescents, and young adults who have experienced trauma. Also experience working with adolescents in foster care, therapeutic foster care, and group homes addressing difficult adjustment periods in their life and treating their emotional, behavioral issues. Prior work experience includes working with individuals with trauma, domestic violence, sexual assault, mood disorder, and eating disorders.

How Psychotherapy Can Help

Psychotherapy not only gives you a safe and confidential atmosphere to explore and address some of life's struggles and current disorders, but it challenges the individual and empowers them to make these changes. Life can be stressful and sometimes this stress can interfere and prevent one from achieving their personal goals. Psychotherapy also teaches client new tools and interventions to cope with those difficult transitions.
