My Approach to Helping

Dr. Fuller aims to minimize the frequency and intensity of the client's suffering and emotional pain, as well as self-defeating patterns, and he helps the client to develop skills leading to life satisfaction and goal achievement. In doing this, Dr. Fuller places a strong emphasis on cognitive-behavioral theory (CBT) and associated techniques. Dr. Fuller tailors these and other techniques to the needs of the individual. This approach helps clients successfully overcome present issues, whether they are long-standing (chronic) or critical (acute) issues.

Scientifically-based methods are highlighted, and when there are no empirically supported treatments, reliance on theory and clinical judgment is utilized to provide clients with comprehensive and customized treatment of his or her particular conditions.

He emphasizes the present, while helping clients to understand how relationships and historical events may still be affecting their feelings, thoughts, and behaviors today. Active methods of dealing with the here-and-now are stressed.

Clients rapidly learn behavioral and cognitive skills that allow them to effectively deal with circumstances in their life.
