My Approach to Helping
I work with adults, adolescents, and couples on a wide range of issues. My focus is on the whole person intrapsychically and in relationship, more so on than on isolated symptoms, but I will work with you to tailor treatment to your individual goals and life-situation. My approach is interactive, analytical but not detached, flexible, and positive (maximizing strengths and realizing potential while working-through disappointments and challenges). Whenever possible, I try to stay in active contact with other providers, so as to maximize diagnostic accuracy and treatment effectivenes. I do both short-term and long-term work. I do help to relieve or remediate specific symptoms/thoughts/behavior, but in all of my work, I place the greatest emphasis on how my clients can find meaning in their experience, become more self-aware and self-actualized, and feel more connected anc cared for.
More Info About My Practice
I am continually involving myself in continuing education and advanced training workshops to sharpen my skills, and I am working on a PhD in Clinical Psychology at Pacifica Graduate Institute (estimated completion in 2010) and a PsyD in Psychoanalysis at Newport Psychoanalytic Insitute (estimated completion in 2011). For the 2008-2009 academic year, I am also affiliated with the CG Jung Institute of LA as a part-time Clinical Psychology Intern.
