My Approach to Helping

Join us, at Heather Varnau Counseling, and walk the path to mental and emotional well-being. If you're ready to embark on a journey that will change your life, then I can help you.

My vision is to bring caring, compassionate attention to the problem areas of your life in a safe and healing environment. I work with an array of individuals and couples seeking peace and contentment within themselves and in their relationships.

I believe that, although you have difficult emotions, thoughts, behaviors, and relationships, who you are, at your core, is not defective, bad, or broken. Coming from this view, I help you increase self-awareness and choice-making in your life. Benefits include relief from depression and anxiety, greater self-understanding, healthier relationships, and changes in behavior.

I have unique graduate training in Contemplative Psychotherapy from Naropa University in Boulder, Colorado. In my graduate studies, I received intense clinical training in the psychological traditions of the West and Buddhist philosophy.

I receive on-going training in Internal Family Systems Therapy, The Gottman Method of Couples Therapy, Conjoint Family Therapy, and Buddhist Psychology.
