My Approach to Helping
I draw from a variety of concepts and methods such as attachment theory, relational psychoanalytic paradigm, differentiation approach, systems theory, as well as new concepts originating from neourobiological research that confirm our need for relatedness and safety. Having had extensive education and training in these various approaches lets me put the specific needs and issues of the individual client first rather than fitting the client in a specific framework.

My work is also based on my extensive life experience having worked in different professions and lived in different countries. In order to initiate lasting change and growth the working through of conflicts and deeper understanding of problems has to lead to practical implementations in the real day to day life of the client.

I am an interactive therapist who works with clients to explore relevant issues and to develop a frame that allows for profound support as well as challenge and deep questioning.

More Info About My Practice
I work with individuals and couples of all backgrounds on a wide range of issues including anxiety, trauma depression, obsessive-compulsive disorders, identity- and self-esteem difficulties, intimacy, and marital and relationship conflicts.

Over the years I have worked with people from a wide variety of ethnic, cultural and religious backgrounds as well as different sexual orientations.

Specific Issue(s) I'm Skilled at Helping With

One of my specializations is in couples therapy with a focus on intimacy and sexuality. My approach is both supportive and challenging and is based on neurobiological and attachments concepts that confirm that we need the support of a partner in order to be able to work through individual primary core issues. I have trained extensively with David Schnarch, Jim and Noel Larson and currently with the PACT model of Stan Tatkin.

What I Love about Being a Psychotherapist

It is a privilege to sit with people and be invited into their most intimate aspects of their lives. I love life stories and the way that everyone finds a way to cope, manage and survive, often in unimaginably difficult situations. The challenge is to transform what served us well in the past in a healthier and effective way to relate to oneself, others and the world.

Important Factors for Choosing a Therapist

Research shows that the success of therapy depends mainly on the fit between client and therapist and on the therapist's personality rather than on his or her theoretical orientation. The basis for the therapist's ability to connect and work with clients is rooted in his real and varied life experiences and to a lesser degree in the knowledge accumulated in academic institutions.I think that is of utmost importance that the therapist believes that the client can face the challenges, do the work and can get better.
