Hakomi
Presented by Morgan Holford, LPC, CHT

Workshop Description

The Hakomi Method of Experiential Psychotherapy is an elegant, comprehensive and highly effective approach to human change and development. Drawing from neuropsychology, systems theory, Eastern philosophy, conventional and body-centered therapies, Hakomi has pioneered an approach to somatic psychotherapy, combining mindfulness, gentleness and experiential explorations of client behavior. For over 30 years Hakomi has integrated the use of mindfulness in the psychodynamic process. Hakomi techniques are exceptionally effective tools for following bodily tensions, feelings, and sensations to the unconscious defenses, beliefs and attitudes that drive behavior and limit responses. This presentation will focus on how Hakomi integrates mindfulness, as the basis of the therapeutic relationship and throughout the stages of the process. It will illustrate what happens, both within the client and between client and therapist, when this state of consciousness is fostered. Through didactic talks, experiential exercises and case presentation you will experience the power of this deeply attuned state and learn immediately applicable skills. We hope you'll join Morgan Holford, LPC, CHT and Julie Murphy, CHT, RAS in an exploration of this somatic method of psychotherapy
