My Approach to Helping

I am a licensed clinical psychologist who is committed to helping my clients from a strength based perspective (identifying their strengths and finding positive ways forward). My approach is to be engaged and empathic helping my clients to find their true self. I have over 20 years of experience in the Denver metro area developing my diagnostic skills that discern and uncover what issues an individual brings that add to and subtract from their internal and interpersonal difficulties. I have provided diagnostic help to those struggling with ADHD, anxiety, depression, relationship and family issues, and trauma, amongst other things. I provide positive feedback within a solid therapeutic relationship. My approach leads to personal insights and knowledge, to self awareness and positive change. For those experiencing significant issues of loss andor pain I offer compassion and support. Respecting where each person begins the process of psychotherapy, I lead clients towards a deeper understanding of self that will bring them to a place of personal awareness and strong positive sense of self which will bring daily psychological, spiritual, and long term health. I welcome the opportunity to engage in the process of psychotherapy with clients (from children as young as 2) in individual or family sessions

Specific Issue(s) I'm Skilled at Helping With

I have years(20+)of experience as a licensed clinical psychologist helping children, adolescents, adults, and families navigate the struggles life presents them. I help people who experience anxieties and depression, family struggles, losses, and histories which include traumas and extreme losses, amongst other issues. I have had a specialty working with children since the beginning of my training. I help families and children experiencing academic, social (including divorce), emotional, and relational issues. Knowing that there is no one way, each person (and family) must find their personal path forward through accessing their strengths and acquiring new skills that help them attain their goals and dreams.

What Makes up a Problem?

I believe the bio-psycho-social (and I add spiritual) dynamics that make a person an individual and contribute to who they are and how they respond to life's experiences. We will look at a person's biological influences (such as family histories and genetics, sleep disturbances, chronic illness, addictions, intellect, etc), psychological makeup (such as inclinations in their personalities - such as shy versus outgoing), social influences (e.g., family makeup, birth order, cultural, ethnic, and gender issues), and spiritual (those things beyond oneself). The impact of each area on who a person is and will become is central to how each person is able to thrive or be hindered. In my work, we identify the important combination of the above factors to be able to maximize a person's progression towards identifying and becoming their healthy, true self.
