My Approach to Helping
With so many choices, how do you choose the right therapist for you? You need someone with not only the professional skills to help you, but a style that that fits who you are. I bring both my strengths as a therapist as well as a lifetime of personal and professional experience in different realms. I leverage my real-world background together with my marriage and family therapy expertise to help you understand and address your real-world issues in a practical way that focuses on results.
I work with individuals, couples, families, and stepfamilies in a gentle, accepting, and collaborative style where I help my clients with empathy and even humor to identify solutions to problems, establish a vision of hope for the future, and build a path to getting there.
My work with individuals is usually focused on issues related to anxiety, depression, and life transitions. My work with couples and families is centered on relationship, communication, and parenting issues. I have a special passion for helping stepfamilies overcome the many unique challenges they face.
More Info About My Practice
I believe a good fit between therapist and client is essential to successful therapy. During our initial consultation, I will meet with you to discuss the issues you would like to address in therapy. You will come away from this meeting with a clear sense of how we can work together. The actual course of ongoing therapy varies according to your issues and your goals. I will patiently listen to you without judgment, and will work with you to solve your problems, deepening understanding of the issues you face and the underlying causes, and exploring ways to begin living the life you choose.
