My Approach to Helping
It can be difficult to take that first step beyond the support of your friends and family and seek out help from a counselor. Let's face it, most of us don't like asking for help with our personal life. But getting assistance when you are struggling or in pain is a sign of strength, not weakness.

If you're looking for a counselor, it's probably because you're dissatisfied, confused, or hurting in some part of your life. Most likely you've already tried several ways to resolve the concern, but you're still feeling stuck or still hurting. Or perhaps you're dealing with something that you just want to get resolved and done with as quickly as possible.

Either way, counseling is unique because it provides a targeted and focussed way for you to get the clarity and understanding you need to feel confident in your choices; and then guidance and support to help you with the insight, skills, and courage needed to reach your goals.

The approach we use in your counseling will build upon your strengths, personality style, and the ways you organize and understand ideas. We'll consider what you want to get out of counseling and the urgency of the problem you are facing. Then we'll determine the way to move forward that is the best fit for you to get the most benefit for your time and expense.

More Info About My Practice
Once you decide to use a counselor, there is still the question "Who do I choose?" Of course you want someone competent to help you with your particular concerns, but it's also really important you feel comfortable and compatible with your therapist. In fact, research shows that over half of 'what makes counseling work' is actually the quality of connection between you and your counselor! And that's pretty hard to know without meeting face to face.

So, I encourage you to call and schedule a free consultation with me. That will give you a chance to get a feel for me without needing to just jump in; and will also help us to determine if my personality, experience, and style in counseling are a good fit to assist to you.

Are you ready to take that first step? It truly isn't as difficult or scary as it might feel. Just click next to the red phone at the top of this page and give me a call. I can usually arrange a consultation for you within two business days of your call.
