My Approach to Helping
I have the utmost respect for each client's individual value system, wisdom and intuition, and I know that it takes a lot of courage to work on past issues and try out new behaviors. I offer a safe and caring space where you can feel comfortable exploring those issues. I listen compassionately to your thoughts and feelings and provide you with new perspectives and solutions for your problems. Together, we determine the steps you need to take to improve your life. Then, I provide you with strong, caring support so that you can make necessary changes, achieve your goals, and move forward into a life of greater joy, satisfaction and well-being.
More Info About My Practice
I offer a group called "Mindful Pain Control." This group is paced for people with chronic pain and meets on Sundays from 1:00p.m. to 3:00p.m. The group offers a safe and supportive environment where you can be with others who have chronic pain and discover that you are not alone. You will have opportunities to share your feelings as well as your resources for managing pain. Each week you will learn new strategies to support your physical and emotional well-being, such as self-care techniques and mindfulness skills. You will also experience relaxing meditations, breathwork and visualizations. Space is limited. A complimentary 30-minute intake is required by phone or in person before the first group begins. There is an affordable sliding scale of $40.00 - $50.00 per session. For more information, please call Dayna at (415)793 -1473.
I also see individual clients on Fridays and Sundays and offer a low-fee, sliding scale of $60.00 - $80 for a 50-minute session. As I am currently an intern under supervision, I am unable to accept insurance. For more information or a free phone consultation, please call Dayna at (415) 793-1473.
Specific Issue(s) I'm Skilled at Helping With
I specialize in working with individuals who suffer from chronic physical conditions and pain. I also provide support for their families, who are often indirectly affected. I teach Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction exercises, assertiveness training to help with communication in all relationships, and I provide psychotherapy for the emotional issues that arise with pain, such as anger, depression, low self-esteem and suicidal thoughts. I work compassionately with my clients to help them reduce physical pain and find new ways to manage and enjoy their lives, despite their limitations.
How Psychotherapy Can Help
Psychotherapy provides you with a safe place where you can explore the emotional side of life. It is a place where you can be honest about your feelings and experience without being judged. A good therapist will be objective and provide you with new perspectives you might not have thought of before. A therapist can also offer you suggestions for new behaviors and support you in making subtle changes that can improve your life.
