My Approach to Helping
When you begin therapy with me, we enter into a therapeutic relationship with one another. In the here and now, you will have the chance to build a trusting relationship in which previously unmet needs may be met. Ultimately, it is my goal to equip you with the skills and tools you will need to move away from the therapy relationship to a place of independence. I am committed to working towards a meaningful, deep, and effective therapy with each of my clients. I also have a strong commitment to justice, and helping you to understand how your position in society and in your family of origin has and continues to affect you in the present. With new awarenesses, you will experience the opportunity to move forward with greater power and a sense of peace.

More Info About My Practice
My fee is $85-$110. I ask that you pay what you are able to within that range.
I do not work directly with insurance companies, however with many insurance companies I can be covered as an "out-of-network provider." After paying your fee at the time of service, you would submit a receipt to your insurance company for reimbursement.

Choosing a therapist is a difficult and important decision. I believe you deserve to make this decision from an informed perspective. I offer a FREE 20 MINUTE PHONE CONSULTATION. This conversation allows you the chance to tell me a bit more about yourself, as well as ask any questions you may have. As we talk, you will begin to get a sense of how we communicate together, and whether or not you feel we would work well together. I encourage you to remember that you are the consumer; it is important for you to make the best choice you can when choosing a therapist to work with.

What I Say to People Concerned about the Therapy Process

Whether entering therapy for the first time, or returning to it after a break, you may fear that beginning therapy will cause a rush of uncontrollable feelings, leading you to feel overwhelmed. You may worry that you will not be able to stop crying, or that you will feel depressed if you "dwell on things". It is my absolute belief that we all carry painful information within us that needs to be shared with another. This human transaction is vital and healing. In my practice, I offer a comfortable and safe environment in which you can do some important work. Over time, as trust grows, you will feel more comfortable sharing with me. In addition to offering this healing environment in which you can be open, it is also my job to help you to pace yourself. Together, we will learn how to open up and share information and feelings, and also how to "cool down" from those feelings so that they remain manageable. Learning how to open up to our feelings, and also, how to limit them when we need to, is a very important lesson to gain in therapy, and a hallmark of all good therapy. As you simultaneously build trust in our therapeutic relationship and within yourself, you will experience a greater sense of control and feelings of self-confidence will emerge. Relief comes from sharing with another, and transforming pain into wisdom and insight. Many little steps add up to significant work.
