My Approach to Helping
I have an integrative and strengths-based approach to helping individuals. I believe that people have many skills and abilities that have enabled them to succeed in the past and my role is to help them recognize and use their strengths in order to overcome their current challenges. I provide a warm, empathic and comfortable atmosphere in which clients can explore their concerns and be gently challenged to try new behaviors. I work collaboratively with my clients to provide an individualized approach tailored to who they are, their goals, life experience and current concerns. I draw from positive psychology, sport psychology, CBT, feminist psychotherapy, interpersonal and existential psychotherapy principles to help clients find their purpose and meaning in life, recognize maladaptive behavior patterns, and utilize their individual strengths to develop more adaptive coping strategies and help them achieve their true potential as human beings.

I specialize in providing sport psychology services for individual athletes and teams to enhance performance and help athletes cope with the psychological impact of injuries.
From a clinical perspective, I specialize in the treatment of eating disorders, anxiety disorders, life transitions, grief, relationship concerns, treatment of ADHD, GLBT issues (including transition) and Spanish-speaking populations.

Specific Issue(s) I'm Skilled at Helping With

Yes, I offer specialized and comprehensive treatment for eating disorders that includes individual, family and group therapies as often as it may be needed based on the severity of the disorder. I closely collaborate with other clinicians (nutritionist, physician, etc) to provide integrative care. We also offer treatment for GLBT individuals and people struggling with gender identity issues, athletes and Spanish-speaking populations. I have specific training addressing each of these populations so that they are embraced, empowered and treated from a cultural-lens that honors their experiences, and where they won't have to educate their therapist about what it means to be a(n)(athlete, GLBT, immigrant, etc).
