My Approach to Helping
I believe everyone has the answers inside, but can't always find them. I am more a facilitator of change. Whether that is change of internal beliefs or external change. My approach is eclectic; I have a lot of training in various methods. Because each person is different, with various needs and many learning styles, treatment is varied and unique for each person who comes to my office.
I do have two Standard Poodles who are my co-therapists.
More Info About My Practice
I accept most insurances.
My fee is $100.00 a session with a sliding fee scale available.
At one time I was a massage therapist doing CranioSacral Therapy and Jin Shin Do Acupressure. my education and experience with body therapies and Eastern medicine influences my approach to Psychotherapy. My treatment philosophy includes my understanding and belief that we are whole when we develop our minds of linear thought, our bodies with emotional movement and our spirit with the awareness of "awe". As the emotional, mental and physical pain in our life is addressed and healed, our life is whole.
Why Going to Therapy Does Not Mean You are Weak or Flawed
Quite the opposite is true. It takes courage and commitment to be in therapy. Therapy is about taking an honest look at yourself; the good, the bad, the ugly. You have to challenge your beliefs and make changes, both of which are difficult.
I personally do not attempt to counter this illusion unless it is a problem for the client sitting in front of me. People changing their lives through therapy is a very powerful statement about strength and who is brave enough to go to therapy.
