How My Own Struggles Made Me a Better Therapist

I can honestly say, that in this world we value people who can relate to our life and our struggles. I have lived through some of life's most challenging events and experiences, such as parent abandonment, miscarriage, divorce, and being a single parent to name a few. My personal struggles have absolutely made me a better therapist. My practice has become completely based on client empowerment and sharing valuable insight to overcoming life's most challenging and defining moments. I believe life is a collection of experiences and lessons learned; be stronger and wiser!

Why Going to Therapy Does Not Mean You are Weak or Flawed

In every other aspect of our life, we seek out the help or assistance of a professional. If a person wants to lose weight or become healthy, they seek a personal trainer, if a person wants to learn how to cook, they take cooking lessons. The list goes on and on with respect to seeking out professional help. Counseling and therapy is no different. There are times in a person's life that they need support and a non subjective view of their current life situation. That is the role that therapy should play in a person's life. Seeking help in not about being weak or flawed, it is actually completely the opposite- wanting to be better, make better choices and enhancing their life.
