My Approach to Helping
As a coach, therapist and trainer of thirty (30) years, I am dedicated to providing the highest level of care possible to my clients. I enjoy setting direction and providing help while collaboratively planning with the client(s). I coach individuals on a wide-variety of issues and I specialize in couples, life transitions, anxiety/depression, integrative medicine, and stress. I coach clients through barriers to health, happiness and success. Based on the unique needs of each client, I draw from a variety of models, techniques and experience to help move them forward. As a Couples Coach, I use the best (from training I have received) of Harville Hendrix, John Gottman as well as utilizing the work of family systems pioneers such as Virginia Satir, Jay Haley and Salvador Minuchin. Couples generally report rapid progress due to the structure I provide in session, the homework I assign between sessions, the tools and topics I employ and my caring commitment to them as a couple and as individuals. As a former Employee Assistance Program (EAP) Manager and Counselor of seventeen (17) years in a large organization, I have learned to be flexible and creative in helping clients on their path. I also practice integrative medicine, particularly with cancer patients. Non-pathology appeals to me as it preserves the client's dignity, self-determination and viability. My ultimate focus is on what's right and good about my client, not what's "wrong" and where pathology lies. I have practiced this both philosophically and practically for many years. And I have found that this helps secure rapid progress and lasting results by doing so! I consider the trust of clients to be a powerful gift and one which I am honored to receive and take seriously.
