My Approach to Helping

My ideal client is one that, although they may have fear about stepping off into the unfamiliar, they are willing to try and stretch their wings in an effort to look for the unknown wonders that may exist around the corner. Each ideal client is willing to work with me on a cognitive behavioral approach to deal with the presenting issue in the short term while maintaining a view toward the future journey that can be taken as a next step once the presenting problems have been successfully addressed. I believe in acting in the role of a guide as each client learns to recognize his/her own ongoing journey through life. I am hopeful that together we can identify where the client would like to journey and how best to get there together.

More Info About My Practice

I hold a Masterメs Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Lesley University in Cambridge, Massachusetts. I take a strengths based, holistic (bio-psycho-social-spiritual), and practical approach with each individual client. I am able to use solution focused and cognitive behavioral techniques to help clients cope with immediate presenting issues and then move forward toward their long term goals. I provide seminars in the community, at schools and workplaces and psychotherapy services for Individuals including children, adolescents, adults and families; Career Counseling; Group Therapy; and Workshops. I specialize in working with children, substance abuse issues and issues of trauma. I specialize in working with children through expressive play therapy and sandtray work. I am working toward finishing my designation as a certified play therapist. My use of sandtrays is not limited to children. I enjoy acting as a guide for adults as they journey through the levels presented during a sandtray encounter. I present opportunities for people to have guided imagery tours to address current or past areas of stress and concern. I specialize in working with people who have substance abuse issues or traumatic pasts. I use my personal experiences when appropriate to help forge a connection that is unique to each client.
