My Approach to Helping
To dare to explore your particular story is to risk finding your own truth; in other words, who you really are. You might be fairly certain that your confusion, trauma, loss, sadness, anger, anxiety, present chaos, etc... is all of who you are. You might fear that there is nothing more.
What I have found in my many encounters with individuals, teens, and families as a professional (and in my personal life too-- but don't tell anyone!) is that these feelings that seem to be overwhelming your life are not signaling the end of you, but rather the potential for your true beginning. Mysterious, I know, but true.
I am personable and down-to-earth, yet have a high regard for professionalism. I tend to use a combination of client-centered, psychodynamic, experiential, existential, psychoanalytic, and family systems as an approach... some might call that eclectic (!) Most importantly, I do not look at people as only psychological beings, but as whole persons living in a mysteriously complex interaction of familial, social, cultural, ethnic, and spiritual dynamics.
