My Approach to Helping
I believe in short term therapy. My goal in therapy is to help my patient to deal with the past, focus on the present and be ready to face the future with confidence and hope. It is important to help the patient to build a strong self-esteem. In Marital Therapy, I believe the duty of the therapist to try to build a bridge on two solid pillars. If the two have dealt with their past, then it is to help the them communicate as "adults" and not as "children" or "parents". I was a marriage and family therapist but did not continue renewing my license as I have the psychology license. I worked at Kaiser Permanente Medical Group in their addiction department for 20 years and wrote my dissertation of Machismo and how it is related to Alcoholism. I also specialize in Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.
