None of us are ever going to achieve that level of perfection to where social services are no longer necessary. The social services fill a true void within our society- these are and must continue to be the people to whom we turn to help us locate the best resources for ourselves, friends and family when we need help. I cannot imagine a society functioning without people in said roles.

To add to Anne's thoughts, not having teachers would be another source of unwholeness. If we are uneducated, we repeat the mistakes of our past even more thoroughly than we do when are fully aware of what those mistakes were. No matter how perfect the world is, children need to be educated so that they will become healthy, whole, productive members of society. Without teachers, we would fall a long, long way.

I think that in order for social services to be completely unnecessary, people would have to be completely whole. People can't be completely whole unless they are raised by people who are completely whole. Since very few people are completely whole, children are mostly raised to be unwhole people. So, only in an ideal, fictional world will social services not be needed.

I found the reference to the “teen problem” a little confusing. This is a concept I am not familiar with. Can someone explain it?

How can I refuse to be the victim of any crime? If someone in a parking lot tries to mug me, am I stay tell the perpetrator that I refuse to be mugged? If someone murders a family member, I am a victim. How can I refuse to take part in that when, even though I am a victim, I am not an active participant? I don't think it is possible to refuse to be a victim in many situations.
