Hi Dr. Ware:

It was refreshing for me as a NYC psychoanalyst, to have read your blog.

Over the last 25 years of private practice with individuals and groups, as well as in my own personal life, I've come to richly and emotionally understand the spirit which as you state, is really about ACCEPTANCE... (and for me it's through the quiet of my moments-- the emotional angst of whatever I'm feeling.....).... I have the innate responsibility to EMOTIONALLY ACCEPT myself. If I can--no matter what the emotion or circumstance... I can also accept the "other."

How did this happen for me? Well, a good enough "second" personal psychoanalysis; many years in "recovery" circles--'working the "program" and embracing this philosophy; much death/loss and grief in my life; much change in my life; much aloneness; and much work with my personal countertransference to tease out the "transferences" in my work.

I saw your article and wanted to tell you I understand what you have said from a very deep place in my heart.

Thank you.

Best,
Lana M. Ackway, LCSW-R, NCPsyA, CASAC
