My Approach to Helping
Welcome. I work with individual adults and couples from late teens into elderhood and I would love to offer your a free consultation to see how we can partner together for your growth and healing. I enjoy working with clients who want guidance to go within and discover their true voice, and offer a more non-traditional treatment plan to assist them in attaining personal fulfillment. I'm most skilled at helping people safely explore deep core issues and find ways to walk through the healing process with strength, grace and true growth by creating an open, honest relationship with themselves to find clarity.

With my background in psychotherapy, career counseling, outdoor experiential education, teaching, and a variety of contemplative and spiritual practices, you'll find I have the experience to be able to help you explore yourself and find happiness.

I'm trained in the Hakomi Method of Experiential Psychotherapy and I currently serve as a Teaching Assistant in this method. I use it as the base for helping others explore and embrace their authentic selves through the five guiding principles: Mindfulness, Non-Violence, Mind-Body Integration, Unity, Organicity. Ask me about what these words mean for your growth.

More Info About My Practice
If you have doubts about talk therapy alone, then you have come to the right practice. My methods alone are different. Further, I offer outdoor counseling in local parks and natural areas. I find this approach helps people feel more relaxed and deeply connected with their inner self for a more meaningful session.

My View on the Purpose of Psychotherapy

Psychotherapy serves to help people understand themselves better and learn how to affect their environment - their work, family, and social relationships in a way that helps them live a richer, more satisfying life. Therapy is unlike any other relationship we have in life, a therapist can support you unconditionally and give you honest feedback that most other people in our lives won't give us. This allows us to see ourselves more fully which gives us more opportunity to choose how we want to be. Obviously, I believe everyone can benefit from this type of self-exploration. Whether, you are suffering from a tough situation in life or you just want to live life more fully and understand yourself and your relationships more fully, therapy can help you accomplish your goals.

Why Going to Therapy Does Not Mean You are Weak or Flawed

Going to therapy takes courage. Courage to be honest with yourself and honest with another human being. Most of us have things we do not like about ourselves, our lives or we have ways that our habitual patterns limit us in our life. Therapy simply helps us understand these things and be able to have more choice over how we show up in the world. I work to help people understand this by partnering with people and letting them be in the driver's seat. I call the work that we do self-exploration, because it is with an open attitude of curiosity that we are able to learn the most of ourselves. Nobody is broken; there is nothing wrong with any of us. And, we can all benefit from good honest self study. Not only do I embody this philosophy in my practice, I don't just sit in the therapist/facilitator seat. I also sit in the client seat. I also have a therapist and participate in several retreats and workshops each year to continue my own growth as a human being.
