My Approach to Helping
Different therapists describe therapy using definitions as varied as the therapists themselves. I describe therapy as having the privilege to walk with people on their life journeys for a period of time. In other words, the purpose of therapy is to work with you to move through and cope with symptoms and challenges, past, present, and future, that affect your ability to function at the level you would like.

More Info About My Practice
Credit cards, cash, and checks are accepted. Payments and co-payments are due when services are rendered. Out of pocket and sliding scale payments may be negotiated depending upon need. I am currently on the Cigna, Tricare, MHNet, Multi-Plan, Humana, and Aetna provider panels, and I am an out-of-network provider for United Behavioral Health and BlueCross Blueshield of TN.

Specific Issue(s) I'm Skilled at Helping With

I have had significant training and experience in treating PTSD, trauma, and abuse survivor issues, particularly sexual abuse survivor issues. In treating these issues, I use a structured approach based upon empirical evidence along with building a personal, therapeutic relationship and trust with my client.

On the Fence About Going to Therapy?

For those who are anxious or indecisive about starting therapy, I tell them that everyone has times in his/her life when they need help or support from others, whether one seeks that help or not. While no one can fully understand how another person feels about or experiences negative life events, as human beings, we all face struggle, loss, or adversity at some point in our lives. Seeking therapy is not a sign of weaknes, rather, it is a sign of health to be able to recognize when additional support is needed to improve quality of life and/or life functioning. I also encourage potential clients to ask questions about their concerns and the therapy process. Information is key in helping people make the right decision about their care and ensuring the client is an empowered partner in that care, rather than a passive participant.
