My Approach to Helping
With over 15 years of experience working with adults, children, and families, I am committed to partnering with you to help you re-discover your inner strengths and abilities and find solutions to the challenges you are facing. My style is warm and caring and I utilize a strengths-based approach to help you create change in your life. Some of my areas of expertise include: women's issues, parenting challenges, child therapy, anxiety and depression.

In addition to therapy sessions in my office, I offer two services which make my practice unique:

1)Walk & Talk Therapy - For individual sessions, you have the option of meeting in the traditional office setting or choosing a Walk & Talk Therapy session. The simple act of walking while talking out life's challenges can open up an environment for change and renewal. Sessions are typically held at a park or at walking paths near your home or work.

2)In-Home Sessions - For children and family sessions, I offer the option of meeting in your home. There are many advantages to in-home counseling. Families can work out communication problems in the environment where they feel most comfortable. Young children especially benefit from learning new skills in a place where they feel relaxed.

Questions? Please call me for a complimentary consultation. I look forward to talking with you.

More Info About My Practice
I am accepted by all health insurance carriers as an Out-of-Network provider. I can provide you with an invoice that you are able to submit to your insurance company for reimbursement. I do have a sliding scale. I appreciate that people have different economic situations and I take that into consideration.

Specific Issue(s) I'm Skilled at Helping With

I am specifically trained in treating anxiety disorders in children and adults. I utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy which involves challenging the negative thinking patterns that contribute to your anxiety and replacing them with more positive, realistic thoughts. For adults, I have used this approach to successfully treat generalized anxiety, panic attacks and social anxiety. For children with anxiety, I use an excellent program that teaches cognitive behavioral techniques (on a kid’s level) through role-playing and other fun activities. This has successfully helped children with problems such as separation anxiety, school phobia, and social anxiety. Another area of my expertise is helping parents with child discipline and behavior issues. In my work with families, goals often include improving interaction and communication between the parent and child and helping parents to establish a system of rules, rewards and consequences. In-home sessions are particularly valuable for parenting work, enabling parents and children to learn new skills in the comfort of their home environment.

My Role as a Therapist

I see my role as therapist as a supportive coach. Whether I am helping you with parenting challenges, relationship struggles, or career difficulties, my approach is encouraging, non-judgmental and positive. I help you find those strengths that you may have forgotten that you had and support you in reach your goals and attaining the changes that you desire.
