Chesna has been with GoodTherapy.org since the company's formative years. She brings her interest and understanding of human psychology and communication to her work as chief editor and education director. In this role, Chesna collaborates with GoodTherapy.org's dedicated team to ensure that the site offers helpful information and resources to people interested in therapy and mental health, as well as quality continuing education events for all therapist members. Paramount to Chesna's work is a desire to uphold the mission and vision of GoodTherapy.org.
Raised by two public school teachers, Chesna appreciates the value of a good education and attributes many of the skills she brings to the team to her academic experiences. In 2012, Chesna completed a Master in Counseling Psychology program, including a 700-plus-hour clinical internship providing direct therapy services to children and families in her community. Prior to that, Chesna graduated magna cum laude from Western Washington University with a bachelor's degree in communication (minor in English). Preceding her studies in the humanities, she earned an associate's degree in business.
A longtime equestrian, Chesna enjoys caring for, training, and competing her four horses, as well as helping others to improve the partnerships they have with their horses. An outdoorsperson at heart, Chesna delights in the daily aspects of farm living, as well as reading, writing, and traveling. She is sometimes referred to around the office as "the grammar police."
