My Approach to Helping

People are unique individuals. I like to get to know you and discover what type of person you are as well as the sort of problem you're seeking help with. For example, are you sensible, rational and detail oriented? Or, by contrast, are you intuitive, emotional, and a global thinker? No style is right or wrong, but I will reach each of these persons a little differently and perhaps choose slightly varying methods and style to achieve what is most likely to be a healing and helpful result for the unique individual working with me. Therapy doesn't work well when applied like a cookie cutter, no matter what the therapist's "theoretical orientation" may be. When you come to my office, you can count on finding a safe place of empathy and compassion as well as useful tools for resolving problems and moving ahead with life.

Our office handles most insurance and I am on many insurance panels; we also take Visa and Mastercard. I am available on weekday afternoons, from 1 - 6 PM.

My favorite type of therapy - that in which I believe I can be especially helpful - is with couples, utilizing the processes of Imago Relationship Therapy, particularly ones dealing with intimate communication.I have been an Imago Relationship Therapist for over 20 yrs.and was the first Imago therapist in San Diego to be certified. I had the good fortune to study with Dr. Hendrix himself, the founder of this method, in one of his early classes in NYC.Imago Relationship Therapy offers you the opportunity to find out why you were attracted to the person you’re with, and learn to diffuse the power struggle. I believe I can be of particular help to you if you find yourself in the position of having a partner who wants to leave, while you wish to save the relationship. I don't promise miracles, but do offer a safe place for development of insight and hope.
