My Approach to Helping

I realize that some of my clients may be looking for brief solution-focused therapy, while others are seeking insight-oriented therapy for personal growth. My philosophy is that therapy should be client-directed and collaborative; therefore, I work with my clients to establish short-term or long-term treatment goals based on their expressed needs. I do believe that our history has contributed to who we are today; therefore, I take the time to learn about my client's family of origin and significant events from the past, while focusing on how this impacts today. Awareness of patterns of behavior is especially helpful in breaking cycles of unhealthy behavior. Most importantly, I love people and value relationships. As human beings we all have a need to connect with others. The more easily we are able to have healthy attachments with others, the more we will find meaning in our own lives. It is my goal to bring honor and strength to the various relationships in our lives -- with our significant others, children, parents, co-workers and others we meet along the way.
