My Approach to Helping

True Happiness and Stability Stems from the Quality of our Significant Relationships!

Welcome!

I provide therapy for children, adolescents, individuals, elders, couples, and families. I work from a strength-based, solution-focused, and systemic or relational orientation. I focus on people's strengths and possibilities while addressing their real life challenges. I provide a wide variety of evidence-based treatment approaches. Which means that all the therapy that I implement is highly researched and therefore, proven to work, if followed correctly.

I also practice family play therapy and child-centered play therapy. In addition, I provide personality, relationship (couple) and career assessments. I believe in a holistic approach to the therapeutic process that incorporates biological, psychological, social, and spiritual dimensions empowering a person or family towards mastering life to its fullest.

The central importance of grounded relationships provides irreplaceable benefits to the systemic dynamics of a person and their family. A family's patterns of behavior influences the individual and therefore usually needs to be part of the treatment plan. In family therapy, the unit of treatment isn't just the person, even if only a single person is interviewed, it is the set of relationships in which the person is imbedded. Research indicates that family therapy is more effective than standard andor individual treatments for many mental health problems. Education
I was born and raised in Lake Forest, Illinois. I received my bachelor degrees in Psychology and Fine Arts from the University of Colorado at Boulder where I graduated Magna Cum Laude and With Distinction in 2004. I was invited and initiated into Phi Beta Kappa (Academic Honor Society) in 2003 and Psi Chi (The International Honor Society in Psychology) in 2002.

I hold a Doctorate of Philosophy degree in Counseling and a clinical Master's of Science degree in Marital and Family Therapy from Loma Linda University Medical Center, a COAMFTE-Accredited Program, (Commission on Accreditation for Marriage and Family Therapy Education) where I graduated with a 4.0 GPA in 2008. A Marriage and Family Therapist with a COAMFT-Accredited Degree assures a prospective patient that the therapist has undertaken a superior course of professional preparation in the clinical practice of Marriage and Family Therapy.

I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, (LMFT): #MFT 1131 Colorado.
The field of Marriage and Family Therapy is a distinct discipline from other mental health professions. Licensed Marriage and Family Therapists (LMFTs) have an academic graduate degree specializing in family and interpersonal dynamics. LMFTs treat individuals in the context of family relationships, addressing issues from anger and resentment to intimacy and communication skills. They are also licensed to diagnose and treat mental and emotional disorders, other health and behavioral problems, and address a wide array of relationship issues within the family system.
