My Approach to Helping
I began work as a psychotherapist in 1989 beginning in community mental health and have been in private practice for 15 years. I have worked using a psychoanalytic model of therapy since my early training, and have continued to gain further training and education in this area. I view this as a very effective and helpful orientation for understanding human concerns, difficulties and desires, as well as a means to achieve the goal of living a vital and fulfilling life, throughout the joys and traumas that occur as part of the human condition. I work with adults, adolescents and couples with a focus on how our inner thoughts and emotions often interfere with the kind of life and relationships we desire. A deeper understanding of and a greater capacity for compassion and acceptance for ourselves and others is often a result of such therapy.
