My Approach to Helping
I believe the mind and body are intertwined, and that emotional health is just as important as physical health. If you are able to understand your internal experiences, you can greatly improve the quality of your life and relationships. Being aware of what drives your behaviors is essential to taking control of your life. A trusting relationship with a caring therapist can provide the space to explore your emotions and conflicts in a safe environment.

More Info About My Practice
I also consult with Torrance Memorial Medical Center, providing evaluation and psychotherapy in the Medical Stabilization Program for Eating Disorders. I work within a treatment team, including an adolescent medicine specialist (Dr. Linda Schack),a dietician (Michele Manarino, R.D., M.A.),a family therapist (Jennifer Kromberg, Psy.D.) and excellent nursing staff. Our team provides outpatient treatment, as well as hospital treatment, for individuals with eating disorder issues.

I believe I can provide better care when I am not restricted by the limitations and privacy concerns that come with being on insurance panels. Therefore, I do not contract with any insurance companies. I will provide monthly statements for those seeking reimbursement for out of network treatment.

Why Going to Therapy Does Not Mean You are Weak or Flawed

Many people in our society have been taught that going to therapy indicates some sort of weakness, or that only "crazy" people go to therapy. It is my belief, and evidence is rapidly emerging, that emotional health is intertwined with physical health. Current research on brain development shows that what occurs with our thoughts and emotions has a direct effect on our physical health. Vice versa, what we do behaviorally affects our emotional/psychological well being. My experience with people who engage in therapy indicates that it requires courage and inner strength to allow oneself to look inward, and to try to make life improving changes by addressing emotional experiences and behaviors that get in the way of optimal growth and development. It is usually the stronger member of a family who is willing to go to therapy in order to have a better life.
