If I'm gonna do hypnotherapy and really get the most from it I can tell you straight up that it won't be from any of that open ended stuff. Tell me what I need to do to get my life on track, make suggestions that I cannot refuse. That is the only kind of hypnosis that is gonna work for me.

While there are a lot of different types of hypnotherapy, I don't think one type would quit a person at all times. It would depend upon the level and stage of the therapy in my opinion. I would be interested in knowing more about this.

While I appreciate that there are different approaches that
hypnotherapists utilize in their practice, I would like to add that many, including myself, do not fall into one catagory or another. As a result, I think it's important, just like finding a therapist, that clients do an initial consultation in order to see whether the chemistry fits for them, and not
limit themselves to the idea that hypnotherapists are one type or another. If a hypnotherapist is good at what they do, they can adjust to the individual needs of their clients in the same way as therapists.

hmmm. . . does this mean that since I absolutely hate for other people to tell me what to do then hynotherapy may not be such a success for me? i have been giving some thoughts to try this to stop smoking but I don't want to waste my money of this might not work for me.

I feel choosing the kind of hypnotherapy is half the work done in itself.once the most optimal method is chosen, with a little help from the therapist, hypnotherapy will surely give results, i can say because it has worked for me in the past.

Hi, Holly -

I found this article to be of great interest to me -- I have a very difficult time participating in any type of meditative therapeutic activity that is led by someone else. It is mainly due to PTSD-related fear.

So, I was really tickled to learn about the transpersonal approach -- this sound like something I could handle.

Thank you for the information!
