Stress Hormone Linked to Potential Diabetes Treatment
February 5th, 2010
The stress hormone CRF, which may play a significant role in the creation and management of thoughts and feelings of stress throughout the course of daily life, has recently become the focus of an in-depth study on the accelerated growth of certain types of insulin cells, making it a candidate for diabetes treatments. While the researchers, affiliated with the Salk Institute in California, refrained from suggesting that embracing higher levels of emotional stress may ease diabetes symptoms, new drugs incorporating the hormone may be produced to determine whether a mental issue typically addressed by therapists can become beneficial for certain general practice clients.

it is nice to know that newer things are found when it comes to treatement of diseases that are so widespread…diabetes is only increasing due to our modern unhealthy diets all over the world.
I am always so happy to read when there are new advances in the battle against diabetes. This disease stole my dad from me at a very early age, and there was nothing he could do to stop the progress. Maybe there is actually some headway now being made so that other families won’t have to endure the pain we all did.
it is very important that they do not rush through with the introduction of this med and will do so only after thorough investigation…an investigation and research process that is probably more than the normal.I say thios because there are a large group of people that would use this if and when it hits the market, so we need to exercise extra caution.
On Oprah’s show just a few days ago she and Dr Oz were giving the stats of just how many people were affected by and died from diabetes every year and I was shocked. I had no idea that this disease was having such an impact on literally every facet of the population. Young and old alike are suffering from this disease which can be so treatable if not curable in many cases so this might be a huge step forward into saving many lives in this country.
Diabetes is a killer, and every preventive measure that can be taken is a good one.
Stress hormones can be such a danger in all of our lives and this just shows one more way that this is true. Stress is a killer, and maybe if we ever find a way to get THAT under control then many other diseases which stem from it will go away as well. I know that may sound like wishful thinking but if stress is such a leading factor for developing so many diseases then maybe that is the area we need to concentrate on. I know there are some who do not think that this sort of resoning holds water, but it makes perfect sense to me.
