There are many positive steps that people can take to encourage optimal mental health, but some may be less obvious than others in their precise relationships. While industry professionals have long associated community involvement and artistic expression with positive thoughts and feelings, a study produced at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology has found that in particular, men experience significant benefits by participating in cultural and creative activities, such as painting or playing a musical instrument. The researchers note that their findings may encourage lawmakers to gain new perspectives on the possibilities of promoting good health.

Well I just think it is the ‘feel good’ factor that comes into play here…And anything that makes you feel good is bound to keep your health in good shape :)

And to add to that, men who are involved in cultural and creative activities are liked by women and this is definitely an added advantage for such men.

It is true…because men who are involved in such areas are able to grow mentally in all aspects and this definitely gives them an edge over those who don’t.

In my humble opinion the arts always serve to make those who appreciate them much more well rounded and better able to deal with others and the differences in others that they may find. This leaves you better able to appreciate diversity, and on that note better equipped to deal with adversity when it comes your way.

When a person involves in different activites, hismind grows well and better than toherwise. It is for the same reason that along with academics, sports and other cultural and arts activities are encouraged in educational institutions.

Hence it comes as no surprise that men who are culturally and creatively active experience better mental health… they are flexing their mental muscles! :)

The contemplation side of most artistic pursuits is what men miss out on that don’t involve themselves in the arts. Whether you are writing a poem or painting a picture, you find your thoughts flowing and drifting. It’s not far off what you aim for with relaxation techniques. The men who come closest to that are those who cultivated a love of gardening.
