The Whole Picture of Sleep Disorders

December 21st, 2010

There’s still a lot we don’t know about the causes of sleep disorders, although the disorders themselves are becoming more widely recognized as legitimate conditions people face. In some cases, frequent fatigue and regular napping may be a sign of depression, which tends to respond very well to psychotherapy.  But it could be that the sleeping disorder is not psychologically based, in which case neurological or chemical factors may be at play. The bottom line: sleep disorders can have a very harmful impact on a person’s life. If your sleep is irregular, problematic, and out of your control, get help. You may find a therapist or counselor to either address or rule out psychological and emotional factors, or find a sleep medicine specialist. Either way, the impact poor sleep has on physical and mental well-being is serious, so it’s important to address problems sooner rather than later.

Poor sleep wrecks your life! I suffered from insomnia due to emotional problems. I would recommend everybody that needs help to find a counselor or therapist that can break the sleep deprivation cycle. It’s a living hell dealing with such exhaustion.

I’m very cranky when I don’t get eight hours of sleep. It’s a myth too that you can catch up on that sleep later. You can never recover lost sleep time and your whole body feels the effect when you don’t. I’m sluggish and unable to concentrate when I’ve not had enough and broken sleep is just as bad as none to me.

Stress derails my sleep pattern. When I’m fine, I sleep like a baby. When I’m stressed, I can lay in bed tired out and watch that clock tick by the minutes for four hours. When I went into counseling the frequency of those nights diminished.

its easy to say you have a problem. but think of when the problem started and what changed when the problem started. a professional will then be in a much better position to help you!

I work in a sleep clinic and there are some patients who come in with some very serious sleep issues. They have such severe apnea that they will stop breathing for long stretches of time. There are others for whom the medications have done nothing to help and they still struggle with getting enough meaningful sleep at night. Some people push this off as not a real health concern but it can completely change your life for the better when you discover some sleep methods that will allow you to rest through the night. You will be more productive and plenty healthier. I know that some people are adverse to more doctors but a sleep clinic really can help to get to the bottom of your sleep issues which can then create a whole new world for you that you could have been missing out on.

I believe sleep disorders are a direct result of the other things happening in our lives-nice things happening with no tensions generally means sound sleep without issues.

Stress and troubles and problems and a lot to do means lack of sleep and also troubled sleep. So it is actually in our control…sleep disorders.

My sleep quality is awful. I can sleep a twelve hour stretch and feel I’d napped for ten minutes. I toss and turn all night long and snore terribly (according to my ever tolerant and long suffering wife). I guess it’s time to get professional help. Thanks for the information.

Sleep disorders can affect a lot of areas in a person’s life that is why addressing in a holistic approach can be life lasting. One best way to work through this with the client is by hypnosis for sleep disorders. The objective of the hypnotherapist is to guide the client in identifying the causes of sleep problems and work through with them to find long term solutions to address the causes and relieve them from sleep disorders.
