The World Family Therapy Congress has a rich history of bringing together the greatest clinicians from the field, and in Buenos Aires we will continue this worthy tradition. In addition to showcasing the preeminent thinkers and scholars in family therapy, we will also consider the crucial role that family therapy plays in process of coexistence, healing, and reconciliation as it relates to trauma, violence, abuse, and suffering throughout the world.
The World Family Therapy Congress (IFTA) is designed for family therapists, practitioners, etc. It is an examination of the role of family therapy as it plays in the transformation of families throughout the world. There is an emphasis on examining the process of coexistence, healing, and reconciliation as it relates to trauma, violence, abuse, and suffering throughout the world.
The organization behind this congress is International Family therapy Association whose mission statement notes their desire to promote, strengthen and improve the quality of family therapy, the quality of relationships within families and to promote well-being and peace within our world.

The World Family Therapy Congress provides magnificent opportunities for face-to-face sharing of ideas, accelerated learning, and networking with colleagues and leaders in the field of family therapy from various parts of the globe.

The congress will focus on sharing findings, approaches to problems and ways of coping with them and helping to heal hurting families, couples, and children in various cultures, and fostering mental health and growth in challenging times. Communicating and networking among therapists both during their time in Buenos Aires and when they return to their homes and communities will be a significant part of the congress process. The congress will celebrate our ability through face-to-face contacts and contemporary technology and modes of communication to learn from others as we continue to develop awareness of how we live simultaneously in “one world” and many worlds, and especially how the development of family therapy is rapidly becoming a mutual back-and-forth process in which we can and o learn new ways from all parts of the world.

IFTA, working in a collaborative spirit with other professionals and organizations around the world who share its mission, also promotes continuing education for family therapy professionals in the development of international quality standards for marriage and family therapists in order that they may better assist families in the communities in which they serve.
The target audience does not include only medical professions, as it varies from social workers, teachers, counselors etc.

The structure of the congress is a participant driven congress. There are, brief sessions, longer sessions, parallel sessions, etc. all based on the abstracts submitted.
