What’s Stopping You? Channeling the Words of Dr. King
January 17th, 2011
On the third Monday in January, the United States celebrates the memory of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. An inspiration to millions during his lifetime, Dr. King’s legacy lives on today. It’s channeled by civic, religious, and academic leaders, and it’s a beacon for individuals seeking light in times of darkness. “Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that,” said Dr. King. As we celebrate his life and legacy, consider the sources of light and dark, of hope and pain, in your own life. If you’ve been running in circles, doling out blame and excuses for the darkness that pulls on you, make this the year that you stop focusing on the darkness and seek to cultivate light. That could mean mending deep wounds with a loved one, finding a therapist to really get help, or fighting for justice with others in your community. Bourn both collectively and privately, there’s already enough darkness in the world; we’d all do well to take Dr. King’s words to heart, to step up, and devote ourselves to making things better.

he was such a great man…its great to remember him and celebrate his memory but alas,we all seem to have forgotten to follow what he taught…hatred is being dealt with even more hatred all over today…and this will only lead to the self-destruction of mankind…
Such inspiring words from one of the most inspiring men that this country has ever produced. He did not profess to do no wrong. Rather he showed us that we are all human and that we make mistakes. But that there are ways to right those wrong, and that this is with love and kindness instead of hate. Thank you so much for posting this on this national day of service and reflection in his memory and honor.
I just wish we had more such leaders around now rather than the lot we have right now- corrupt, arrogant and those who are very very selfish!
A candle does not lose anything by sharing its light. We need to remind ourselves of this and help whoever we can in whatever way we can.because being selfish is not going to lead you anywhere.Because giving something to someone is a good thing to do and good things make good people!
There is so much darkness in today’s world and it has grown so powerful that whenever a candle is lit to drive away the darkness, the candle is being put off!
With the significance that Dr. KIng still plays in so many lives and the impact that he has made, there is nothing that can stop us!
Dr.King’s words were no doubt golden. his advice and thoughts for the people not only held good in his period but they hold good even now and are a solution to so many of the issues facing us today. long live Dr.King in the hearts and minds of people.
