Australian Legal Program for Mental Health Clients Launched
December 7th, 2009
Though many legal professionals may attempt to offer their services to those experiencing mental health difficulties, the precise needs of such clients can reach beyond the particular purview of general practice attorneys. In recognition of this issue, an Australian program has just been launched to provide mental health clients with lawyers who have specialized backgrounds in mental health. The group, which includes an Aboriginal mental health and legal specialist, aims to help current issues experienced by clients play out with honest, realistic representation, and to assist in the prevention of future legal troubles.

I don’t quite understand the need of such a venture/program… do they mean to say people with mental health issue get into more legal tangles and cases…? I see no relation between mental health and legal procedures!
It may not be necessary as pointed out by Defoe but it definitely is a good step forward because specialization and customization is always a good thing, and it is no different in this regard.
