Australia Holds Mental Health Conference for All Ages
December 2nd, 2009
The organization of the international mental health community is one of its greatest assets, and the practices and special functions of associations and teams of mental health professionals around the world help shape and improve the field as a whole. Paying tribute to this organization and participating in its refinement, the Australasian Society for Psychiatric Research is holding a conference tonight at the Australian National University. The conference, entitled “Young Minds to Grey Matters,” will focus on the role of mental health services in the lives of Australians at every age, and will feature keynote speeches touching upon the controversy over rising rates of psychiatric medications.

Seems like a good thing to introduce even younger members of society to the realities that mental health issues can have in our lives. Maybe this will get more people comfortable talking about mental health from a very early age which will then encourage them to seek help when they see that either they or others may need it.
It is heartening to know that it will focus not only on a particular age group but on all age groups. This allows the younger participants to learn from the problems faced by older participants and hopefully avoid similar problems themselves.
