My Approach to Helping
I was going to have to have to appear in court. I was scared. As I was talking this over with my friend, she said "Don't worry. You won't be there alone. We'll do this together." My body breathed a huge sigh of relief.

I help couples get that feeling in their relationship. That I've-got-you and you've-got-me feeling.

Specific Issue(s) I'm Skilled at Helping With

If you had to choose a surgeon, you probably would look at the statistics for his/her success rate. Your relationship is crucial to your emotional and physical health. Wouldn't you want to take the same care when choosing a couple therapist? Emotionally Focused Couple Therapy (EFT) has a substantial body of research showing its effectiveness. Most approaches to working with couples are not empirically studied. And the few that are, are not as effective as EFT. I have earned the highest level of competence as an EFT therapist. I also continue my learning through ongoing supervision and training.

Importance of the Client-Therapist Alliance

I know for myself that feeling safe and understood by someone, whether it be friend, family or therapist, makes all the difference in the world. I think this is true for just about everyone. So, as a therapist, I try to make sure that the person, who is letting me in to his/her life, experiences me as a safe haven.
