My Approach to Helping
As a psychotherapist, I have been helping individuals and couples resolve emotional stresses and relationshop problems for over 25 years. Psychotherapy enables people to improve coping skills, reduce hurtful behaviors, and live emotionally healthier lives. These are skills that all of us can learn with the right assistance and coaching. Some clients prefer to participate in individual therapy while others find marriage or couples counseling or even divorce therapy to be more appropriate to solve their emotional or family problems.
I have several areas of special expertise. One is relationship/marriage assessment and counseling. Assessment includes determining the major strengths and problem areas in the relationship and correcting sources of distress. Clients learn new healthier ways of communicating with one another. Significant relationship change can be made with only one partner working to improve negative patterns in the relationship. If one person changes, the relationship is changed!
More Info About My Practice
I also provide grief and bereavement therapy. Grief is a normal but painful process following a loss of a loved one. When clients lose a parent, spouse, or child, they often benefit from supportive and guiding counseling from someone who has both experienced it personally and knows about it professionally.
Another kind of major loss is divorce or separation. I assist clients to deal with the traumatic period following a marital separation or divorce. I have conducted many classes and workshops on divorce recovery. I also help remarried couples understand the unique challenges in stepfamily adjustment. My office is conveniently located in Houston, TX at Greenbriar and Bissonnet Streets, easily accessable from Downtown, Greenway Plaza, Texas Medical Center and Galleria areas.
