My Approach to Helping
Do you obsess about food, weight or body image? Are your concerns undermining your self -esteem, robbing you of life satisfaction or damaging your relationships? Whether you are suffering from anorexia, bulimia, nighttime eating or compulsive eating, or having difficulty developing body confidence in an appearance-focused society, these persistent and debilitating problems can destroy your emotional and physical well-being. Food and weight problems often arise at puberty, but can continue for years or develop later in life. Whether you are an adult woman or man, an adolescent girl or boy, or the parent or other family member of someone who has a problem with food or weight, help is available. I can provide you with specific skills and tools so that you can resolve your concerns and develop a happier and more satisfying life. I have over 25 years of experience as a psychotherapist and Eating Disorder Specialist and draw on cognitive, behavioral, emotional, body-oriented and relationship-centered approaches. In addition to working with individuals, couples and families, I lead groups for teens with eating issues, adults with food an weight concerns, and mothers with eating disordered daughters. Author of the 2009 book (in press), Dying to Please: Anorexia, Treatment and Recovery.
