My Approach to Helping

am a licensed clinical psychologist in professional practice for over 15 years. I received my doctoral degree in clinical psychology from the Chicago school of professional psychology. I gained sub-specialization in cross-cultural psychology in my doctoral program. I am certified in Clinical Hypnosis from the American Society of Clinical Hypnosis- ASCH. I am trained in the technique of Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) by the EMDR institute. I am currently in private practice and an adjunct faculty member at the Chicago School of Professional psychology. I have worked as the director of psychology at a private psychiatric hospital, where I was responsible for provision of psychological services, formulation, implementation, and evaluation of clinical programs for a variety of psychological illnesses. I was in charge for clinical training of graduate and doctoral level students in clinical psychology, physician assistants, and medical residents in psychiatry. I believe in utilizing clients psychological strengths, basic belief systems, and life experiences as resources to treatment. My treatment approach is direct, interactive, and collaborative. I believe in guiding the clients through the process of treatment, not carrying them. Personally and professionally, I believe that people have the answers to their problems and I facilitate the process of psychotherapy through systematic exploration. I strongly believe in clients motivation and involvement in therapy as it holds the key to a successful outcome.

More Info About My Practice

Based upon my experiences in the field, I have learned that the most important factor in treatment is the compatibility between the clients needs and therapists approach to treatment process. Therefore a thorough understanding of clients expectations, their personal, social, cultural beliefs, spiritual needs, and a sound therapist client relationship are crucial to treatment success. Over the years, I have managed to work with a wide variety of clientele. I have worked in the city, state, and private hospitals, in community mental health centers, foster care agencies, and nursing homes. I carefully take clients expectations into consideration and collaboratively formulate treatment goals with the client. My approach is flexible and solution focused.
