My Approach to Helping
I believe that all individuals, couples and families possess a unique set of skills and tools through which they can achieve a healthy, happy and fulfilling life. Accessing these tools and applying them in life can be a more challenging process which can create dissatisfaction in life and relationships. As a therapist, I see my role as that of helping to guide individuals, couples and families through the process of identifying and harnessing the power of their strengths so that they may achieve satisfaction and fulfillment from life.
My approach to therapy is aimed at supporting you through the process of identifying and reaching your goals in life and your relationships while simultaneously honoring who you are as an individual, couple and/or family, the unique life experiences youve experienced and shared, and the manner in which you influence and are impacted by the many systems (e.g., social, cultural) and subsystems (e.g., couple, family) which you are a part of.
More Info About My Practice
I am a Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT-A) in Alaska which means that I have completed my graduate training and clinical internship and am now in the process of accruing clinical hours (post graduate clinical work) which are necessary for me to be a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT). The State of Alaska Board of Marital and Family Therapy has granted me a license for supervised practice called a "Marriage and Family Therapy Associate (MFT-A)".
Since I am not fully licensed, my rates are generally lower than most licensed professionals as I do not accept insurance. I do however work on a sliding fee scale which is based on gross annual income per individual person or couple/family system and the number of dependents. Session fees are negotiated based upon the needs of the individual, couple and family.
I am very happy to answer any questions you may have.
