My Approach to Helping

If you're reading this, you've already taken the first step towards moving forward in your life. It's courageous to realize that struggling on your own with issues of anxiety, stress, depression or frustration may not be enough to resolve them and that an objective perspective is needed. You've probably been feeling sad, discouraged, "stuck," not in charge of your life for quite a while. I am trained and committed to listen to you in an empathetic, respectful way, to be non-judgmental (no matter what I'm hearing) and to know when to question and when to guide you. I also pay close attention to your body language, facial expressions and what you're not saying. Throughout my career, I've always made it a priority to create a safe, private space where I give my undivided attention to every individual who walks into my office. During sessions, there are no phones ringing, no interruptions and no distractions. Your time with me will give you the opportunity to slow down, take a much needed breath and feel that you are truly being heard and accepted. My 20 years of expertise can help you gain the insight and confidence to change the patterns in your life which have kept you from experiencing life positively, working productively and enjoying fulfilling relationships. My office reflects my personal style: warm and welcoming. I will never view you as a diagnosis, no matter what issues have brought you into my office. To me, you are, and always will be during the duration of treatment, a human being who is struggling to feel more energized and positive about who you are and how you live your life.

More Info About My Practice

There are many different techniques and orientations that offer the possibility of feeling better but none of them are magic. The real magic is in the relationship that develops between you and your therapist over time as trust builds, along with the feeling of being in a real collaboration. I do everything in my power to make it safe and comfortable for you to share your concerns and vulnerabilities and will never push you to reveal anything painful until you are ready to talk about it with me. This has been one of the core beliefs of my private practice. Together we can work towards validating your strengths while reducing the stressors in your life. The goal is for you to end each session with a different perspective, a "homework assignment," or a new insight into a problem but, most important, some changes in thoughts or behaviors that will make you feel more hopeful and help you start living the life you want to live.
