My Approach to Helping
Deciding to see a therapist is not an easy decision. Most people will finally make that call when they feel they have exhausted all of their options and are hurting beyond what is tolerable. Just by looking at this site, you have demonstrated that you have two of the most important attributes for successful therapy, courage and hope. With the support of a compassionate and focused therapist it is possible to find a sense of peace and joy.

My approach is to help people identify and connect with their inner voice of wisdom and compassion and learn to trust themselves as they make decisions to create a healthier life. My style is relaxed, honest and not without humor. I believe that people want to feel genuinely heard and understood without judgment. Experience has taught me that this type of compassionate and non-judgmental relationship is the best environment for a client to uncover their own truth and find healing and direction.
Additionally, as a certified yoga instructor, I incorporate yoga therapeutically to help clients connect with their physical body and facilitate healing.

Specific Issue(s) I'm Skilled at Helping With

Trauma recovery is an incredibly challenging process for most people as it requires a great deal of time and patience while increasing tolerance for the intensely painful and often overwhelming reactions. Working with clients to move successfully through the healing journey after a traumatic event(s) or relationship is a major focus of my work and my training. I enjoy walking with a survivor on their journey, acting as a witness, support and navigator. For all of us, healing is a holistic process. It does not start or finish with the mind but with the whole person. To honor this reality of healing, I incorporate the therapuetic aspects of yoga into the process as a way of helping to facilitate the mind-body connection. I believe that this promotes and supports lasting change for the client.
