A central focus of my practice is assisting people who are grieving. Grief is a natural emotional response to the loss of someone or something important to you. Life events such as death, divorce, break-up, job loss, re-location, loss of health due to illness, or loss of safety due to trauma are typical causes of grief. After a loss it is common to experience many different emotions including sadness, despair, shock, anger, and guilt. Sometimes these feelings can be scary and overwhelming; it may feel like they will never go away.
The process of therapy can assist you with identifying obstacles to grieving and working through intense emotions. Providing a safe environment in which you can recall painful experiences, and gain an understanding of how these wounds are contributing to your present difficulties is a focus of my work. Through deeper self-understanding and improved coping skills you can manage your problems more effectively and engage in life in more meaningful ways. This can give you an opportunity to discover greater self-acceptance and self-confidence, as well as utilize your abilities to grow, and heal.
